Annemieke Mein

Gippsland Art Gallery | 27 July 2019 to 19 January 2020 | Free Entry

Gippsland Art Gallery is pleased to present the fourth exhibition of work by Annemieke Mein within her dedicated space at the Port of Sale.

The new display features several major works drawn from private collections from across Victoria. This exhibition provides a unique opportunity for visitors to experience works rarely seen in public.

Annemieke has produced a new work for this exhibition, The Recycled Hopper (2019), which is inspired by the grasshopper plagues Annemieke experienced on her bush block near Briagolong. Don’t miss this opportunity to see a new Annemieke Mein artwork!

This exhibition also features the large scale work The Morass—Sale, which was recently acquired by the Gippsland Art Gallery with assistance from The John Leslie Foundation. Visitors will also see two display cases, which reveal insights into the skill and preparation that goes into each of Mein’s artworks.

Annemieke Mein’s textiles have been inspiring audiences in Gippsland and further afield for nearly 50 years.

Her works are collected not just across Australia, but around the world. The dedicated space in Gippsland Art Gallery hosts regularly changing exhibitions, each with an emphasis on educational displays that reveal the methods and techniques in the process of creating a textile work.
